Utah Substitute Teacher Requirements
Since there is no state-wide licensing of substitute teachers in Utah, substitute teacher requirements vary by school district. Therefore, to gain employment as a substitute teacher in the state of Utah you will need to contact the school and/or school district you wish to teach for to determine what that district requires. Follow that district’s application process and be prepared to pass a fingerprint background check. Most school districts will probably require you to have a bachelor’s degree, but check to be sure. In general, you will need the following to substitute teach in Utah:
• A high school diploma
• Completed application and application fees
• Official Transcripts
• Letters of recommendation
